JFK to Copenhagen!

Starting May 27, 2010, Delta Airlines will offer a daily non-stop from New York's JFK airport to Copenhagen! I still prefer to fly with SAS but Delta opening this option will greatly improve travel to here. Flights are almost always full on the east coast routes and tickets are several hundred $$ more than to other cities in Europe. Good news if you want to come visit us! *hint hint*

Silly Humans CAN Still Evolve!

Isn't it funny how I mention evolution yesterday and then yahoo pops up with a story from Time magazine about human evolution today? The article discusses several studies that argue that humans are still evolving (despite some experts opinions that we have stopped). One in particular looked at reproductive evolution in females in a small town in Massachusetts and found some interesting correlations between women's size and health and how successful they are at having children. Evidently a lady with a little more to love has an easier time getting pregnant that 5% body fat super models :) They also touch on several keystone arguments such as how quickly we have adapted to lactose tolerance and certain populations have developed a resistance to malaria.

Evo rant

*rant on*

I wish everyone that argues that evolution is a lie would take a research based course on evolution. Then I think a whole lot of opinions about evolution would change. I know most people really don't care to know the truth about things, but it greatly bothers me when people accept facts for facts without ever questioning if there is proof in the pudding.

Wish List for Baby and Twig

Not to leave out the wee ones! Vintage Lucy's is one of my favorite sellers on Etsy. Stuff for baby and stuff for mommy too <3

I won't do many
baby posts in this blog but
I figured it was ok to put this
here with my other Etsy post.

*NEW* Wish List for Me

Ok mom this is especially for you! You always want to know what I want for Christmas, birthday or just a random love gift. So I did one of my favorite pastimes and cruised Etsy this morning! I really like more than just these three pieces from these shops but they are my current *wishes*.

As a side note for anyone new to reading my blog....
I really love shopping on Etsy and
I love being able to support
independent artists making
one of a kind finds!
Plus most of them will ship international <3

African Reptiles

I don't seem to have enough blogs to go around so I have decided to start another one! This one is so I can be as nerdy as I want to be and talk about all of my science stuff without having to explain anything. What I really want to accomplish with this blog is to have a record of where I started and how far I have come with my reptile project. Starting now and hopefully all the way through a PhD thesis. I know there will be times down the road that I need a positive reminder and I hope to find it here.

Spartanburg International Festival

This is my mom carrying the Danish Flag. Isn't she cute? My mom is the special events coordinator for the city of Spartanburg in South Carolina (my hometown). Every year they do the Spartanburg International Festival and my mom is so proud to be able to represent Denmark for her Danish family! This year for the first time, they had a booth for Denmark with lots of information to pass out provided by the Danish Tourism Bureau. They estimate they had over 10,000 people attend this year. Go Mom!!!

Here
is a link to some pictures from the event if you are interested.

Boobies!

Could you ever imagine seeing this on the cover of a newspaper in the US? MetroXpress is one of our free daily newspapers that you can find everyone on the train and around town reading. This is by no means a scandalous article, it is about breast cancer awareness. The article wanted to show that everyone no matter the size or shape, gender or color can be affected by breast cancer. Now if you want scandalous, too bad I missed the issue a couple of weeks ago with vibrators on the cover!

Love From Home

Root Beer!!!

And care packages!!

I found the rootbeer in the basement grocery store of a major department store here called Magasin. It was such a nice treat! I also got an AMAZING care package from one of my DZ sisters, Andrea Anderson. Originally she was going to send a couple of dvds for Twig but then she added all this other wonderful stuff. I love the light up pumpkin :) THANK YOU!!!!

American Gun

This is a video one of my bestest friends posted from his band. It is from a show they played July 11. 2009, when they opened for the legendary Drivin' and Cryin' at the Handlebar in Greenville, SC. I miss him (and them)!

Cheers!
