Skelanimals

How in the world have I managed to miss these!? Skelanimals are the cutest! Anyone want to find some of the Halloween ones at Target for me? I really should stop window shopping online otherwise I am going to get myself in trouble.

Right now I feel like This Guy....

The past 2 weeks have about wore me out. And I got lots more just like em! Every day is school, Twig, dinner, school work, help mark with his thesis, pass out. Wash rinse repeat. I am loving all of the intellectual stimulation but yowser this lady needs to slow down a little.

Mark's thesis will be turned in October 5, so that will be a load off of our shoulders. He will still have to do his presentation and defense but the bulk of the project is his paper. This also means I will finally get more selfish study time! Right now we have been struggling to find a balance of who spends time with Twig and who gets to do school work. We have made things work as best we can but it does get stressful at times. This week I also plan to put in quite a few hours editing and spit shining his paper. He is one lucky boy to have a live in editor!

I finally have a research project! I will be working with our new conservation biology professor on a reptile mapping project in Africa. No field work in my future since it will all be based on previously published literature and some work that has already been compiled by Conservation International. Which I totally don't mind since I have done a lot of field work already plus a home based project is best for me and the family right now . And for the record, I didn't take the project because I was all that interested in reptiles. Of course I love turtles and chameleons are just cool but I am doing this because I want to learn about population distributions and gain some valuable GIS skills. I am just in the beginning stages of this so expect to see more as things come together. Most likely this will be my masters thesis project, so I will be working on this for the next 18 months or so.

I have managed to make a little social time for myself in all of this. I met up with a couple of fantastic ladies in Copenhagen last week for brunch. Both of them are also pregnant and are due in a couple of weeks. Stephanie I met through blogging and Shea she met through the Copenhagen International Parents meet up group. I see lots of fun times in our future! Stephanie also braved a trip out to Viskinge with me on Monday and I showed her the wonders of Slagelse and Bilka. The visit was way too short but I expect there to be many more visits to the country side :)

I <3 My School

This is what the University of Copenhagen's science faculty made to attract more students. Don't you want to come to my school too? I've said it before and I'll say it again...

It's good to be a biologist!

Look What I Found...

lurking around my tomato bushes tonight! I think we have a little hedgehog family living in our yard. So far we have only seen babies but no mama. I also saw one (not sure if he was the same or not) annoying Zephyr in the backyard tonight. And we have had one in the bushes near the fence and up on the patio. They are SO cute!

Wootie Woot

In my attempts to be lazy and avoid reading endless articles on how plants talk to each other, I have been doing some online shopping. My two new acquisitions are....

Fabulous t-shirt from Shirt Woot

Crazy looking Star Wars plus from Kids Woot

I know you are drooling with jealousy!!

I Get a Subway

Life has been busy busy crazy busy. School, sick me, sick Twig, school, lectures, late nights, still sick Twig, reading for school...yea you get the point. But it's been fun. Well all except the sick part.

The most exciting tidbit I have to add to things right now is that there is a Subway going in near Nørreport station in Copenhagen!!!! Which means that I am going to be within walking distance of a Subway 4-5 days a week. They are also opening a Domino's pizza across from the station. I would prefer a Papa John's but since that ain't happening I will take what I can get. Now if only they would give me a damn Taco Bell! Oh and on the fast food thing....

I finally broke my 2 year hiatus on McDonald's. Ok, I cheated and got a milkshake once but not even a single french fry for over 2 years. And I broke it this week. Stupid pregnancy making me crave fast food. Man it was pretty dang good though.
