CPH with My Mom

Towards the beginning of mom's visit, we decided to spend the day in Copenhagen enjoying the food and atmosphere. The Copenhagen Jazz Festival was going on so we would randomly run across jazz bands playing on various squares and street corners in the city. It was fun!

We had lunch at this slightly expensive but fabulous cafe in Nyhavn called Barock. Considering the location, it is about the same price as any other restaurant in the area. We picked it because they had a lot more choices than just fish and smørbrød. My mom had a GREAT carbonara and I had a fabulous gourmet burger. It was really relaxing to sit along the canal and people watch. Sure you can find cheaper places to eat but the view makes it worth it!

Not too far from the Little Mermaid, we found this gem of a luxury sailboat. I went and checked out their website curious about the prices and surprise surprise none were to be found. The picture doesn't do it justice and I can just imagine how it looks with full sails up. As nice as it is, I think it would probably be a little too foofoo fancy for our tastes!

After wandering around town a bit more and shopping a whole whole lot, we had an early dinner at a tapas bar called Biscaya near the central station. It was ok, but nothing to get too excited about. Definitely not somewhere I am itching to go back to again soon.

It was a fun day and we managed to actually have some nice weather. There is still so much more I want to show mom around town, but I guess that is what future visits are for!

Love From Home

I am truly lucky to have some amazing friends back in the US that send me much needed care packages. I can never put into words how much they mean to me, but just know you make me feel so full of love! This is the one I got today from my girl Liz Groff!

Thank you Laura, Amanda, Liz H., Liz G., Allison, mom and anyone else I might have forgotten. THANK YOU!

Where We Live

While my mom was here, we decided to explore a little around where I live. These are a few of the places we found. All are within a 30 mile (or much less) radius of my house. The water is pretty chilly to swim in but oh so refreshing on the rare hot summer days.

Where has It Gone...

this month of July?? Between mom visit and Twig being on summer vacation from day care, I have had almost no time for myself to blog or game or do much of anything for me time for that matter. As it is, Howl's Moving Castle is playing babysitter so I can write this little bit. I'm a bad mommy! *snicker*

So I have lots of pictures to share from my mom's visit. Patrick's 2nd Birthday, beach trips, road trip to Germany....maybe another movie (or 3) will help me make a few more posts over the next few days!

Jacob's 30th Birthday Party

This is the year that a lot of Mark's friends from school all turn 30 (makes sense since it was his year too!). One of them is our good friend Jacob who invited us to his party aboard an old "retired" steamship called the S/S Skjelskør . We had a blast and it was a beautiful day to be out on the water. The boat was at the harbor in Frederikssund and we motored around Roskilde Fjord for about 4 hours and then came back. We had beer and awesome sandwiches, lagekage, and cocoa milk. We decided to leave Twig with his grandparents so we could enjoy the time instead of trying to keep him from going overboard. Smart move on our part :)

Thanks for such a great day Jacob. Happy Birthday!

Lots more random pics from the day here

Lazy Days

Life is pretty slow right now. That's a good thing though, right? Just been enjoying the nice warm weather and leaving our windows open all the time. We got Twig a little 3 ring blow up pool which we have all enjoyed using to cool off in. Mark put up a new laundry line for me in the back yard and I have been getting the house cleaned and sorted and new shelves put up and just various random things needing to get done. I will try and enjoy this since my mom comes next week and we have a whirlwind of fun planned!

Once we get Twig in bed, we have been finding some time to game together. We are still playing some Warhammer with Noel on the Iron Rock server. Mostly we just log in to RvR, kill people, and shoot the shit on Team Speak (a voice chat program we use). On the days we don't have play dates with Noel, we have been playing Lord of the Rings Online. The game is such a nice surprise and So much better than we expected. It is relaxing and just plain fun for us. We are on the Landroval server and have a couple of friends there already. Dan and Darla (our Roskilde friends) and April (one of our long time Dark Age of Camelot friends). Though with our odd play times we haven't managed to actually play with any of them yet! This is my minstrel Nalrenia. She is a cute little hobbit!
